Audemars Piguet, a Swiss high-end watchmaker, has launched a new royal oak series double wheel hollowed out watch (model: 15416CE.OO.1225CE.01), the new watch combines an elegant black ceramic case with a subtle dial for visual contrast. This is the first time that the Royal Oak series double cycloidal hollow out watch is equipped with a black ceramic case and chain, and the case and chain are carefully hand polished with the brand’s signature Satin drawing and polishing process.
Black ceramic case with a new design of dark gray hollowed out dial, through both sides of the watch, you can enjoy the rose gold double wheel mechanism. This patent innovation was released in 2016. Two sets of cycloids and hairspring are fixed on the same axis and swing at the same frequency, which improves the accuracy and stability of the watch. Rose gold inlaid time mark and fluorescent pointer, as well as 22K rose gold pendulum, complement the automatic adjustment mechanism. The titanium bottom cover features a new engraving “Royal Oak double balancier”, which highlights the complex mechanism inside.
In addition, the operation of the rhodium gear train can also be observed through the clearance of the dark gray hollow bridge plate. Since 1930’s, hollowing out has been Aipi’s technical expertise, which is a kind of art that takes both aesthetics and function into account. Trained experts create movement from scratch with the help of final design and reverse thinking. If you cut too little in the wrong place, it doesn’t look right; if you cut too much, it will damage the functionality of the movement. To solve this problem, it is necessary to be proficient in tabulation technology, and have a deep understanding of materials and finishing technology.
The Audemars Piguet Royal Openworked Double Balance Wheel is sized at 41 mm in diameter, features a 45-hour power reserve thanks to the thin 5.57 mm caliber 3132. It is available in both stainless steel and rose gold, both non-limited. More details, including pricing and availability to come! You can read more official details here. The Royal Oak Double Balance wheel Openworked tackles these stabilising issues by fixing a second balance wheel and balance-spring assembly on the same axis. The new patented geometry involves a very complex manufacturing procedure, but the payoff is huge: greatly improved precision and stability.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked Black Ceramic IMAGE: AUDEMARS PIGUET Audemars Piguet’s latest wonder might be a bit of a mouthful to pronounce, but that’s only because it’s pretty much the full description of this jaw-droppingly beautiful timepiece that will be available exclusively at AP boutiques from December
This new watch presents a demonstration of Audemars Piguet’s mastery of high-end horology and materials science. The new case for this watch follows on a theme used in the Royal Oak collection for a few years now. The case and the bracelet of this watch are made from black ceramic.
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked 41mm Ceramic is yet another demonstration of the brand’s savoir-faire. A combination of tradition and innovation, as only AP does. While the design and the materials are technical, bold and ultra-modern, the movement is, horologically-speaking, an ode to traditional craftsmanship
